2-Oxa-6-azaspiro[3.3]heptane is a drug that has been shown to have a strong affinity for the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR), which is found in high concentrations in the central nervous system. It also has been shown to stimulate epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anti-inflammatory activities. These properties make it a potential candidate for use as an analgesic, antipsychotic, and anti-inflammatory agent. The safety of this compound has been confirmed by a molecular modeling study and its pharmacokinetic properties have been characterized in rats. 2-Oxa-6-azaspiro[3.3]heptane is currently being evaluated as an analgesic in clinical trials involving patients with chronic pain due to cancer or other diseases.
