4,4'-Oxybisbenzoyl chloride is a chlorinating agent that functions as a reducing agent in organic chemistry. It has been used to synthesize polymers and reduce viscosity. 4,4'-Oxybisbenzoyl chloride is sensitive to hydroxylamine and reacts with phenolic compounds such as aniline and resorcinol. 4,4'-Oxybisbenzoyl chloride also catalyzes the Friedel-Crafts reaction.
