Octenidine is a disinfectant that inhibits bacterial growth by inactivating the enzymes essential for cell growth. It has antibacterial efficacy against c. glabrata, and significant cytotoxicity against wild-type strains of human dihydrochloride epidermal cells. This product also has strong activity against antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
