(1)-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-Octahydro-1-((4-methoxyphenyl)methyl)isoquinoline is a diphosphine that is used as an additive in the carboxylation of olefins. It is also used in the synthesis of picric acid and formic acid. This compound has been shown to have high yield in catalysis with picric acid and formic acid. The enzyme that catalyzes the reaction is called carboxylic acid oxidase. (1)-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-Octahydro-1-((4-methoxyphenyl)methyl)isoquinoline can be used as a crystallizing agent for optically active compounds. This compound also serves as a mutant in order to produce enantiomers.
