Oleyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that has been used to treat inflammatory skin diseases. It is also used in pharmaceutical preparations and as a component of viscosity control agents, emulsifiers, and surfactants. This material has an optimum concentration of 80% for the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases. Oleyl alcohol is an effective inhibitor of the enzyme activities responsible for inflammation, such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (LOX). The optimum pH level for oleyl alcohol's activity is 7.0
