Product Information
5-((3aS,4S,6aR)-2-Oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl)pentyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (5OSH) is a chloride prodrug that is activated by the thiol group of cysteine residues in the bacterial cell wall. It inhibits the synthesis of fibrinogen and protein C, which are necessary for the coagulation process. 5OSH has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens without any adverse effects on healthy cells. This drug also binds to polyvinyl chloride surfaces to form a monolayer with high affinity for cancer cells. 5OSH forms stable complexes with diagnostic or therapeutic agents through covalent bonds or other interactions, such as hydrogen bonding or electrostatic forces.
