2-Octenoic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that has been shown to have cancer chemopreventive effects in mice. 2-Octenoic acid inhibits the growth of mouse melanoma cells by inhibiting lipid synthesis and inducing apoptosis. It also has anti-inflammatory properties through its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
