It has been shown to be effective against fungi in the genera Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Rhizoctonia. This compound is also a nematicide, which can be used as a disinfectant or reconstituted with water to form a sprayable solution. O-methyl N-[2-(2-methyl-5-nitroimidazol-1-yl)ethyl]carbamothioate exhibits low energy properties and has been shown to have antimicrobial effects on bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The compound also has an inhibitory effect on the growth of human cancer cells.
