Product Information
2-[1,3,4]Oxadiazol-2-yl-phenylamine is an organic compound that is structurally related to the isatins. It can be synthesized by ring-opening of a cyclohexenone with 2-chloro-N,N′-dimethylethylenediamine in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The reaction proceeds through intramolecular attack of the amine nitrogen on the olefinic bond followed by nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl carbon. The x-ray structure indicates that the molecule exists as two rotamers (i.e., enantiomers), which are in rapid equilibrium with each other. The x-ray structural analysis was performed at 100 K and 200 K to study changes in conformational equilibria due to temperature changes. Electrosynthesis with a palladium electrode has been used to produce this compound, which also has been synthesized using electro
