Octadecyl chloroformate is a synthetic chemical used in peptide synthesis. It is an ester of hydroxy octadecylsulfuric acid and chloroformic acid. This compound has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cells, specifically those that are derived from the prostate gland. Octadecyl chloroformate also reacts with aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons to form a linker.
