1-Oleoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl phosphatidylcholine is a fatty acid derived from the biogenesis of phosphatidylcholine, which is an important component of all cell membranes. This molecule has been shown to inhibit the activity of the N-type calcium channel in rat brain cells. The inhibition activity was found to be dependent on the resonance mass of fatty acids and not their stereochemistry. 1-Oleoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl phosphatidylcholine may also be involved in potentiation of cholinergic transmission in hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cells.br>br>Further research is required to determine whether this compound has any medical applications.
