Oxadiazon is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by blocking photosynthesis. It is used to control weeds in agricultural fields, and has been shown to be effective against Cerastium glomeratum. Oxadiazon has been shown to have a number of physiological effects, including an increase in the amount of oxygen consumed and CO2 produced. This drug also inhibits certain enzymes, such as urease and nitrate reductase, by forming stable complexes with their metal cofactors or binding to the active site. The chemical is typically applied as an anhydrous sodium salt.
