Description

Eugenol is a diphenol that belongs to the group of esters. It is found in many essential oils such as clove oil, nutmeg and cinnamon. Eugenol has a wide range of applications including use as an antioxidant and an inhibitor of corrosion. This compound has potentiodynamic polarization properties, which can be used to produce electricity. The mequinol-form is more effective than the estragole-form for inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis. This property can be used in industrial processes as a biocatalyst for the production of biodiesel.
