Description:
Oktakis(tetramethylammonium)-T8-silisesquioxane (OTAS) is a rheological agent that has been shown to interact with biological fluids, oils and fats. OTAS is a propyl amine cosolvent that is soluble in water and hydrocarbons. It has been shown to have solubility in the range of 1-5% by weight in water and 0.1-2% by weight in oil. The packaging material for OTAS should be inert to this compound, and the container should provide adequate protection against light and moisture. OTAS also has a high affinity for carboxylic acids, carboxylic acid esters, ethers, betaines, alcohols, amides, hydroxylated alkyl groups and amido groups.
