Oxazole-2-amine is a molecule with a molecular weight of 224. It is also known as 2-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)ethanol, or 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine. Oxazole-2-amine has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. This drug binds to δ receptors and blocks the production of proinflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-6). When combined with radiation therapy, oxazole-2-amine has shown anti-leukemic activity in vivo by inhibiting the growth of leukemia cells. The chemical structure of oxazole-2-amine makes it an acidic compound that can be dissolved in water, glycolaldehyde, and other polar solvents. The intramolecular hydrogen bonds between the oxygen atom and nitrogen atom are responsible for its stability.
