Product Information

Name:
Oxazole-5-carboxylic acid amide
Synonyms:
  • Oxazole-5-Carboxamide
Description:

Oxazole-5-carboxylic acid amide is a lead compound with antiviral activity against the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It inhibits HCV replication by binding to the polymerase active site and preventing RNA synthesis. This compound also inhibits HIV-1 replication in a cell-based assay. An ec50 value of 1.4 μM was determined for oxazole-5-carboxylic acid amide against HCV NS5B polymerase, which is an important target for inhibiting viral replication. Molecular modeling studies show that this compound has significant inhibitory activity against the HCV replicon, which may be due to its binding to the polymerase active site.
