It can be used in the production of polymer films, coatings, and adhesives. 1H,1H,5H-Octafluoropentyl Acrylate (MEHQ) is a macroinitiator that has been shown to have good compatibility with many different monomers. This initiator reacts by copolymerizing with other monomers to form a polymer matrix. The polymer matrix consists of a monolayer of molecules that are held together by covalent bonds. The size of the molecule determines its ability to penetrate the polymer film or coating. Monomer mobility and diffusion across the polymer film or coating can be controlled by controlling the size of the molecule. This initiator does not react with water or dissolve in it
