4-Octadecyloxybiphenyl is an efficient and tunable surfactant that can be used as a microdroplet formation agent in the production of microspheres. It is also used as a coalescence inhibitor for the production of bimodal size distributions. 4-Octadecyloxybiphenyl is amphiphilic, meaning it has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, which allows it to form aggregates with low interfacial tension. This property makes it useful in the production of oligomers and solidification reactions. 4-Octadecyloxybiphenyl inhibits polymerization reactions by competing with monomer molecules.
