Product Information
- 1-octyl-1H-pyrrole
1-n-Octylpyrrole is a small molecule that has been studied for its optical and chemical properties. It can be used as a sensor for organic compounds in the environment, or to measure the surface of metals. The transduction of the optical signal is due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the pyrrole rings and an electron donor. 1-n-Octylpyrrole has been shown experimentally to activate at an energy of 14.7 kcal/mol, with solvent effects on activation energy observed. The conformation of 1-n-octylpyrrole is homologous to decalin and other fused ring compounds.
