Description:

Octafluoropropane is a fluorinated hydrocarbon. It is used as an inert gas for welding, a refrigerant and as a propellant in aerosol spray products. Octafluoropropane has been shown to have no effect on human serum pharmacokinetics. This chemical has a high energy content that can be released by vibrational or kinetic energy, which may result in the production of hydrogen fluoride (HF). The reaction of HF with water vapor produces hydrofluoric acid, which can lead to metabolic disorders. Octafluoropropane also reacts with fatty acids to produce octafluoroacetic acid and octafluoropropanoic acid.
