Product Information
- 2-Piperidinecarboxylic acid, 6-oxo-, (2R)-
- (R)-6-Oxo-piperidine-2-carboxylic acid
D-6-Oxopipecolinic acid is a cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the enzyme 7-aminocephalosporanic acid, which is required for peptidoglycan crosslinking. It also has an enzymatic cleavage activity that can be used to chemically modify D-6-oxopipecolinic acid. Cleavage of this compound with enzymes such as chymotrypsin or carboxypeptidase yields the corresponding amino acids, which are then incorporated into protein molecules.
