2-Oxoindoline-6-carboxylic acid is a chemical intermediate that can be used to synthesize the anticancer agent nintedanib. This compound is a phenyl, dimethylamino, trimethyl, and intermediates. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on DNA synthesis in cancer cells by blocking the activity of DNA polymerase and ribonucleotide reductase. 2-Oxoindoline-6-carboxylic acid also has an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and suppressing the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL1β and IL8.
