Description:
1-[2-Oxo-2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]pyridinium Iodide is a prophylactic agent that prevents muscle spasms and convulsions caused by organophosphates. It has been synthetized using human erythrocytes. The LD50 of 1-[2-Oxo-2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]pyridinium Iodide in mice is about 200 mg/kg. It is not active against tetanic activity of the tibialis anterior muscle, but it does prevent acetylcholinesterase poisoning.
