Description

Octafluoroamyl Alcohol is a sodium salt that has metal chelate and optical properties. It is used in the reactive process of laser ablation, which uses a laser beam to remove thin layers of material from a surface. This process can be used for the fabrication of materials with complex geometries and high accuracy. Octafluoroamyl Alcohol also has a synergic effect when combined with hydroxyl group-containing compounds, such as ethylene diamine. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of an intermediate compound, trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), which decomposes to water vapor and phosphorus pentoxide. TFA can be used for recording by its ability to create latent images on photographic film or paper.
