Product Information
Octafluoro-1,4-dithiane is an organic compound that has a molecular formula of CF2=C(H)F. It is a colorless gas that has a boiling point of 140 degrees Celsius and a melting point of -72 degrees Celsius. It is soluble in benzene, ether, and acetone. Octafluoro-1,4-dithiane can be used as a coupling agent for the formation of six-membered rings with geminal dithienes. The conformational stability of octafluorodithianes increases with the number of heteroatoms in the molecule. Octafluoro-1,4-dithiane is stable at room temperature but decomposes when heated to temperatures greater than 50 degrees Celsius. This compound exhibits spectra that are characteristic for geminal dithienes including IR spectra and NMR spectra.
