5H-Octafluoropentanoyl Chloride is a chloride that is efficiently used in the acylation of pyridine and acetonitrile. The reaction can be used to produce 3-chloro-5-(2,4,6-trimethoxybenzoyl)pyridine. 5H-Octafluoropentanoyl Chloride has been shown to be an excellent reagent for cycloaddition reactions with 1,3-cyclohexadiene. This compound is a colorless liquid at room temperature and has a boiling point of -12°C. Nature provides many examples of this compound and it can be found in the chloroplasts of plants as well as in the cell membranes of mammals.
