Product Information
N-[2-Oxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-chromen-7-yl]acrylamide (OTFA) is a high concentration, hydrophobic monomer that has been shown to be toxic to aquatic organisms. OTFA is used in the synthesis of nanoparticles. The synthesis of OTFA involves a reaction with formaldehyde and acrylonitrile that yields an acrylic acid derivative. OTFA is used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of vibrio and other organisms. This compound has been shown to have sublethal effects on organisms, which may be due to its ability to inhibit uptake of nutrients or affect labeling by preventing protein synthesis at the ribosome level. Concentration values for OTFA are not available.
