2-Phenylthiophene is a diazonium salt that reacts with hydroxyl groups to form diazo compounds. It has been used in the Suzuki coupling reaction to create a wide range of products, including pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. 2-Phenylthiophene has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, inhibiting cervical cancer cell growth and inducing apoptosis. 2-Phenylthiophene also appears to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful in treating inflammatory bowel disease.
