- 2-(Pyridin-4-Yl)Ethanethiol
4-Pyridylethylmercaptan is an inhibitor of DPP-IV, which is a prohormone processing enzyme. It has been shown to have an adsorption mechanism that enhances the solubility of hydrophobic compounds. This compound also has a redox potential that can be used to oxidize or reduce other substances. 4-Pyridylethylmercaptan has been shown to enhance the stability of monolayers and increase the rate of electron transfer in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy experiments at low frequencies. 4-Pyridylethylmercaptan binds to chromatographic stationary phases and has been used as a control compound for monoclonal antibody production in cell culture experiments. The pH of this compound’s aqueous solution is neutral with no ionizable protons, although it does contain polar functional groups such as hydroxyl, ether, and ester groups. 4-Pyridyleth
