Product Information
- 4-Pyrimidinecarboxylic acid
Pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid is a molecule that has two geometric isomers. It is an amide with a molecular weight of 130.07g/mol. Pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to have anticancer activity and inhibits the growth of tumor cells. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. The protonation of the carboxylate group in the molecule leads to the formation of a bidentate ligand, which stabilizes pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid by binding with basic groups on other molecules. This property can be used in age related macular degeneration treatments by attaching pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid to a protein or peptide and applying it topically to the eye.
