Pyridazine is a heterocyclic compound that contains a pyridine ring. It has the chemical formula CHN, and is a colourless solid. Pyridazine can be synthesized by reacting trifluoroacetic acid with ammonia in the presence of an oxidizing agent. Pyridazine has been shown to have anti-hypertensive activity, and also inhibits molecules that are involved in the synthesis of nitric oxide and thus reduces blood pressure. Pyridazine binds to the active site of gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors, which are inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors, and acts as an inhibitor molecule. The 5-membered heteroaryl ring coordinates with two nitrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms, forming a planar geometry. This molecule has been studied by X-ray diffraction data, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements, and thermodynamic data analysis.
