- Perfluorodecylethyl methacrylate
2-(Perfluorodecyl)ethyl methacrylate is a molecule that belongs to the group of ethylene oxide. It has been shown to be a monolayer on silicon and glass, forming a transition layer between the air and the surface. This monolayer has also been shown to form micelles in water, which are spherical aggregates of molecules with hydrophobic cores surrounded by hydrophilic exterior surfaces. The structure of these micelles changes depending on whether hydrogenated or unhydrogenated 2-(perfluorodecyl)ethyl methacrylate is used. 2-(Perfluorodecyl)ethyl methacrylate copolymerizes with other ethylene oxide molecules to form materials with different properties.
