Potassium 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9-Henicosafluorodecane-1-sulfonate (PFDSA) is a perfluorinated compound that can be used as a surfactant in the production of polymers. It is used to reduce hexachlorobutadiene to hexachloroethane and can be used to transfer phosphorous acid from an ion exchange resin to an aqueous solution. PFDSA has been shown to have low permeability and is not easily absorbed through skin or lungs. PFDSA has also been shown to be a quantifiable contaminant in human blood samples and has been found in animal tissues such as liver and kidney.
