Platinum tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin (Pt-TFPP) is a polymeric matrix for the detection of oxygen. It is immobilized on the surface of an argon plasma, which is used to generate a light beam. The Pt-TFPP absorbs this light and emits light at a different wavelength. This property makes it useful for detecting oxygen in low concentrations with high sensitivity. The platinum porphyrin has been shown to be effective in the analysis of heteroplasmic samples and human serum, as well as a number of other applications such as nanosensors, organic solvents, and analyzers.
