Product Information
- Isopropyl Trifluoroacetate
Propan-2-yl 2,2,2-trifluoroacetate (PFTFA) is an ester compound that contains a trifluoroacetyl group. It is synthesized from the reaction of ethyl formate and hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a catalyst such as aluminum chloride or boron trifluoride etherate. PFTFA has been shown to inhibit HIV infection in cell cultures and animal models. This drug also inhibits the production of reverse transcriptase and protease, which are enzymes that are needed for HIV replication. PFTFA activates cellular transcription factors, leading to the synthesis of proteins involved in immune response.
