Product Information
- Borate(1-), trifluoro(iodomethyl)-, potassium (1:1)
- Potassium (iodomethyl)trifluoroborate
Potassium trifluoro(iodomethyl)boranuide is an anion that has been synthesized by the reaction of potassium and boron trifluoroacetate with methyl iodide. The compound is a colorless liquid in which the boron atom is three-coordinated to the three fluorine atoms. The compound yields phosphine, alkyl halides, and alkyl amines when treated with Lewis acids, such as aluminium chloride. Potassium trifluoro(iodomethyl)boranuide also has two transition metal complexes with ligands that are conformationally flexible and capable of hydrogen bonding. These complexes may be useful for catalysis or as catalysts themselves.
