Potassium heptafluorotantalate(v) is a compound with the chemical formula K2TaF7. It is a high-temperature solid that reacts exothermically with water, hydrogen fluoride, and boron nitride. Potassium heptafluorotantalate(v) can be used as a cross-linking agent for organic solutions. It has been shown to have high resistance to thermal expansion and good mechanical properties in combination with low energy consumption. Potassium heptafluorotantalate(v) can also be used as a catalyst for hydrochloric acid synthesis. It is highly reactive with potassium ion, which may lead to the formation of potassium tetrafluorotantalate(III).
