4-Piperidineacetic acid is a synthetic compound that can be found in the leaves of plants such as quinquefasciatus. It has been shown to have an anti-oxidant effect, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cancer cells and cholesterol synthesis. 4-Piperidineacetic acid has also been shown to have potent inhibition of mosquito larvae death, with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 3.2 μM. 4-Piperidineacetic acid also binds to functional groups on proteins and inhibits the metabolism of organic substances by hydrolysis or oxidation.
