Product Information

Name:
[4-(Pyridin-4-ylmethyl)phenyl]amine
Synonyms:
  • 4-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)anilinebenzenamine
  • 4-(4-pyridinylmethyl)-
  • 4-(Pyridin-4-Ylmethyl)Aniline
Description:

The compound 4-(Pyridin-4-ylmethyl)phenyl]amine is a ligand that has been shown to bind transition metal ions, such as Cu(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II). It is a colorimetric sensor for the detection of these metal ions. The compound has been used to detect Cu(II) in water samples and can be used for the monitoring of these transition metals in water. The transition metal ion sensor was also used as a control experiment to confirm the presence of nitro groups on the surface of gold nanoparticles. Nitric acid was added to the 4-(Pyridin-4-ylmethyl)phenyl]amine solution, which resulted in an increase in absorbance due to its conversion into a nitroso species.
