Product Information

Name:
Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxamide
Synonyms:
  • 2,5-pyridinedicarboxamide
Description:

Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxamide is an electron microscopic agent that has been shown to induce autophagy. This drug can be used as a ligand for the identification of unsaturated fatty acids and linkers in the functionalities of these molecules. Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxamide also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities through its inhibition of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and subsequent reduction in arachidonic acid release from membrane phospholipids. Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxamide binds to PLA2 as a competitive inhibitor and prevents cleavage of the phospholipid substrate. The binding also disrupts the conformation of PLA2, preventing it from carrying out further enzymatic activity.
