4-(Pentyloxy)benzoyl chloride is a mesomorphic monomer that is soluble in organic solvents. It is made from the reaction of 4-pentanol with benzoic acid chloride. This compound has been shown to have low molecular weight and thermal stability, as well as optical properties that depend on its molecular weight. The melting point of this compound is approximately 151°C. This compound can be used in the production of polyesters, which are thermoplastic materials with excellent mechanical properties.
