Product Information
- 5-isoxazolecarboxaldehyde
- 3-phenyl-
- 3-Phenylisoxazole-5-Carboxaldehyde
3-Phenylisoxazole-5-carbaldehyde is an intramolecular hydrogen compound that can be used in the synthesis of β-lactam antibiotics. It is a substrate for the intramolecular hydrogen bonding and can act as a catalyst to form acetoacetate. 3-Phenylisoxazole-5-carbaldehyde is also bactericidal and can be used as an antibacterial agent. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with higher yields when combined with pyrazolones. 3-Phenylisoxazole-5-carbaldehyde has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis through degradation of mRNA, preventing protein synthesis by blocking the ribosome from binding to mRNA, or inhibiting transcription.
