4-Pyridin-4-ylpyrimidin-2-amine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of carbonyl compounds. It is used as an agrochemical and has been shown to be effective against nematodes, bacteria and fungi. 4-Pyridin-4-ylpyrimidin-2-amine has also shown antimicrobial activity against organisms such as Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial and antiviral effects of this compound are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by blocking the action of inositol phosphate on casein kinase II.
4-Pyridin-4-ylpyrimidin-2-amine also inhibits the production of proteins vital for cell division by binding to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA, making it effective against Esc
