Description:

2-Pyrimidinemethanol is a substrate analogue that is used as an experimental drug. It is an orally active molecule and has shown to decrease blood pressure in mice by acting on glutamic dehydrogenase, which is the enzyme responsible for the conversion of glutamate to 2-pyrimidinol. 2-Pyrimidinemethanol has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of peptidomimetic activity in humans. This drug may also be effective in treating sciatic nerve damage by inhibiting the enzyme that converts lysine to lysinoalanine.
