Description

2-Pyridin-4-yl-1H-benzimidazole (2PyBz) is a compound that belongs to the group of benzimidazoles. It is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and has a high affinity for cell nuclei, as well as hydrogen bonding interactions. 2PyBz inhibits the enzyme activities in the testes, which may be due to its ability to inhibit ATPase activity and decrease the pH of cells. The drug also has the ability to cause fertility problems by inhibiting sperm motility and decreasing sperm count. 2PyBz can be used for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia because it decreases prostate size and reduces urinary flow rate.
