Product Information
- 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol
- 5-(2-pyridinyl)-
5-Pyridin-2-yl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties in vitro. It inhibits the mitochondrial electron transport chain by binding to the mitochondrial membrane and inhibiting the enzyme cytochrome c oxidase. This leads to an accumulation of reactive oxygen species and induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. 5-Pyridin-2-yl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol also inhibits luminescence properties of picolinic acid with anions. The primary function of this compound is to inhibit cancer cell growth by causing them to undergo apoptosis. 5PYRODS also binds to mitochondria and blocks the electron transport chain. This leads to an accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. 5PYRODS also inhibits luminescence properties of picolin
