(2E)-3-(4-Propoxyphenyl)acrylic acid is a phenolic compound that has been shown to have tumor-suppressor effects in vivo. It inhibits the growth of murine sarcoma cells by inhibiting their ability to divide, and also induces apoptosis by binding to the cinnamic acid derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of hydrogen bond acceptor, which is involved in DNA repair and replication. (2E)-3-(4-Propoxyphenyl)acrylic acid also binds to caffeic acid residues on proteins, leading to decreased protein synthesis and cell death. This compound can be used as an anticancer drug.
