Description:

Pyridazin-3-ol is a compound that belongs to the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of inflammation, for example in patients with asthma. Pyridazin-3-ol is a prodrug that is metabolized by the liver into its active form, pyridazinone, which inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. This inhibition prevents prostaglandins from being synthesized, which are mediators of inflammation. Pyridazin-3-ol also has been shown to inhibit apoptosis pathways in cells and to reduce levels of reactive species in cells, which may contribute to its anti inflammatory activity.
