Product Information
- 2H-tetrazole-2-acetic acid
- 5-(3-pyridinyl)-
Tetrazole is a heterocyclic compound that can be synthesized in two ways. One method involves the reaction of pyridine with sodium azide to produce 5-pyridin-3-yl-2H-tetrazol-2-yl)acetic acid. Tetrazole has been shown to have excellent luminescent properties in the solid state, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonding interactions with carboxylate groups. The other method for producing tetrazole is through the reaction of nitrosobenzene and sodium hydroxide and then hydrolyzing the resulting product. Tetrazole has also been used as a ligand for coordination chemistry, where it coordinates to metal ions such as copper(II) or nickel(II). Tetrazole has an isomeric form called pyrazole, which can be distinguished by their different absorption spectra.
