3-(Pyridin-4-yl)benzoic acid (3PBA) is a carboxylic acid with the chemical formula CHCOOH. It is a white crystalline solid that can be obtained by reacting pyridine-3-carboxylic acid with malonic acid. 3PBA has a melting point of 122 degrees Celsius and can be used in organic synthesis as ligands for metal ions such as copper(II). 3-(Pyridin-4-yl)benzoic acid can also be used to synthesize luminescent molecules, such as 2,2’-bipyridine.
